About: This solid brass pitcher was manufactured by John Marsden of Wolverhapmton, England c. 1870 to 1900. The design is by important English designer, Christopher Dresser. It features Dresser’s signature ribbing detail and is marked “J.M.” and “3” to the base.

From Wiki: Christopher Dresser (4 July 1834 – 24 November 1904) was a British designer and design theorist, now widely known as one of the first and most important independent designers. He was a pivotal figure in the Aesthetic Movement and a major contributor to the allied Anglo-Japanese or Modern Style (British Art Nouveau style), both of which originated in England and had long-lasting international influence.

Why We Love It: We love anything by Dresser. His pivotal work remains a breath of fresh air to traditional English household furnishings.

Condition: The pitcher could benefit from a polishing. Also there are a few tiny dents and dings to the sides as pictured. Otherwise solid and still very usable.
