Large Vintage Birdhouse Caboose
About: This is a fire-engine red birdhouse, skillfully fashioned after a caboose. It features little windows, railings, wheels and hand painted details. Each end includes a hole for your favorite bird to live. Or, just keep it inside on display. C. 1950s-60s
Why We Love It: Someone put a lot of time & energy into this, and despite it’s iconic looks, retains a bit of whimsy and naivete of the maker. There’s even something Christmas-y about it.
Condition: Excellent, unused, likely always on display. The roof shows some de-lamination of the wood as shown (1st image). Otherwise excellent and very sturdy.
