Victorian Chalk Teaching Globe
About: This period Victorian era Papier-mâché & plaster globe with slated chalk painted finish was used as a teaching aid in the United States. The high relief cast iron base is painted in a deep rich red and compliments the moody grey globe nicely. This late 19th Century piece has presence and shows very well.
Why We Love It: The deep red and dark grey tones are moody….a little macabre even. And scientific stuff is always cool.
Condition: Some patina and light rust to the base as shown. The globe has several areas of cracks though no punctures.
Dims: 26" H x 10" Diameter Base. Globe is 18" Diameter. Weighs approximately 20 lbs.
