Painted Dresser Chest

$595.00

About: This is a bench made four drawer dresser chest that has been further embellished in primitive Pennsylvania dutch styling in reds and black on a yellow field. The motifs are applied in sponge, brush and feathering techniques. The chest sits on four integral turned feet in black and is further finished in a mix of Chippendale and plain bail style brass handles.

We believe the chest dates to the late 1940s as there are some details in the construction of the drawers that lead us to believe this is the time period.

Why We Love It: Every surface had been hand painted. And we mean EVERY surface: the interior drawers, carcass, front, back sides…all of it! The front, top and sides have further been embellished with sponge and feathering techniques done by a very talented hand. A glorious statement piece.

Condition: The surfaces are free of scratches though there are some minor age related wear and paint chips at the corners. The brasses are patinaed from time. The drawers stick a bit which could be remedied with a dry soap rub-down to the runners.

Dims: 37.25” Wide x 19.5” Deep x 31.5” Tall.

Location: Sperryville, VA
