Pyrograhic Wedding Chair

Sold

About: This is an early pine wedding chair decorated by hand using a wood burning tool (pyrography) and over-stained in black. Each of the visible sides have been decorated using the same technique. The seat doubles as a lid revealing storage: two functional pieces in one.

This piece was collected in Pennsylvania, Amish country. The form is reminiscent of European hall chairs.

Why We Love It: With painted areas including an “S” in the seat and doves with bows at the back crest, this piece was a celebration of life for someone, likely a gift given for a newly wed couple. We are absolutely in-love with this piece and will be sad to see it go (but happy for its new caretaker).

Condition: Overall excellent condition for its age showing expected wear to edges, feet and some fading of white painted decoration.

Dims: 15” Wide x 13” Deep. 39.5” High at the back. 18” Seat Height.

Location: Sperryville, VA
