Mughal Era Palace Stool

$225.00

About: This heavily carved stool is constructed of solid rosewood and features bold arabesque lines and carvings reminiscent of the most grand details of mahals (palaces) of the decadent Mughal periods in India. The piece likely overlaps the Anglo-Indian period of British occupation and dates to around 1850-90.

The seat is upholstered in a once lavish velvet, now faded and worn. Every visible inch of the exterior surfaces are beautifully carved in foliate patterns.

Why We Love It: This is a gorgeous petite little showy piece. The arabesque patterns are exhuberant and carved surfaces hearken to a romanticized period of India’s history.

Condition: The seat and fabric are obviously worn and faded. The structure of the stool has been reinforced at some point (last image). It is still a little wobbly though with some attention could be tightened up. Or left alone and used as a corner table / decorative piece.

Dims: 20” Seat Height x 13” Wide x 13” Deep

Location: Sperryville, VA
