Monumental Glass Lamp

$1,195.00

About: This is an original glass General Electric light post shade turned lamp on walnut base, lacquered in a deep rich red. The story goes this was collected by a former Washington DC Pepco employee in the 1960s and retrofitted to its current format. Back then these lamp post shades were made of glass while today they are plastic (for obvious reasons).

Why We Love It: This will need a special place due to its domineering scale and proportion: either as a floor lamp in a corner or as a table lamp on something equally as impressive in scale. It would look stunning on a large central foyer table.

Condition: Lamp base is free of chips, cracks or paint loss and retains a bit of patina that highlights the glass body’s texture. The original shade on the other hand is in need of replacing. The shade frame remains in sturdy, re-useable condition, ready for new fabric.

Dims: 54” Overall Height, 18” Diameter at widest point. Base itself is 33” tall.

Location: Sperryville, VA
