African Deer Mask
About: This is an antique mask of a stylized small deer or antelope, perhaps from the Ogoni tribe in Nigeria, Africa. He is carved of a soft , lightweight wood with black matte painted surface.
Why We Love It: This little fella has graced our log cabin front door lintel for years, protecting us with his watchful and affable features. He is not as heavily stylized as most African masks, instead having a smooth surface with gentle curves and minimal details.
Condition: Crackling paint to the eyes and lips, wormholes here and there as shown with a hand carved interior, all of which point to a wonderfully early handmade piece.
