Lignum Galleon Pulley

$0.00
Sold

About: This a very old lignum vitae ship’s pulley, likely dating to the 18th century or earlier. The lignum sheave housing holds a cast iron pulley wheel. This piece has an incredible warm and smooth patina

Why We Love It: We can imagine this relic originally being used high up in the rope rigging on a masted galleon ship from centuries ago.

Lignum is a tropical hardwood known for its strength and density. In fact, it’s the densest wood species know to man and was used in everything from bowling balls to ships pulleys.

Condition: The block is in intact condition and the pulley wheel spins freely. The patina is smooth and tactile. Displays very nicely.

Dims: 7.5” Long x 4” x 4.5”

Location: Sperryville, VA
