English Oak Linen Trunk

About: This handsome Edwardian era, English Arts & Crafts paneled storage chest/trunk is constructed of quarter sawn oak with peg assembled corners. The oak has taken on a lovely chocolate fumed patina over time.

The base features a chippendale style scrollwork skirt that skews Arts & Crafts with bracket feet and upper & lower ogee trim. The generous and gorgeously finished interior shows the craftsman’s attention to detail.

Why We Love It: The oversized scale, the paneled construction, the warm oak patina make us swoooon for this very English piece. It’s understated and masculine with great proportions.

Condition: Very nice condition all around though with missing lock escutcheon (likely brass). The interior bottom was replaced with plywood at one point as well (we can imagine a child playing hide & seek and destroying the original bottom). There is a shelf support rail midway inside though no shelf exists. Very sturdy and without breaks.

Dims: 39” W x 22.5” D x 27.5 H

Location: Sperryville, VA
