English Low boy

$675.00

About: This is an 18th century English low boy or dressing table in solid oak. The construction is a mix of pegged frame and nailed drawer boxes. The top has an ogee edge detail while the skirt features a double reverse ogee arch. The brasses have been replaced with the ghost outlines of the originals present.

The chest’s construction and materials give us hints as to it’s origin and age: this type of country / cottage furniture was common in 18th & 19th Century England and likely made in a small workshop.

Why We Love It: Gnarly and full of character, just like we like it! The passage of time and generations of use are evident in the diminutive, expressive little guy. Would work perfectly as a nightstand or entry table with mirror or art above.

Condition: Knot holes, splits, cracks, nicks and dings galore…though all with a warm and gentle patina. The drawers all work fairly smoothly. A very sturdy and somewhat heavy piece.

Dims: 28 “ Wide x 17.5” Deep x 26.5” tall

Location: Sperryville, VA
