About: Here’s an early grain shovel fashioned of a single tree trunk and retaining a glowing patina. The wood is likely a soft, lighter weight wood such as birch or beech. The handle is carved with the maker’s initials.

Why We Love It: Though piece was likely refinished, it was but done with such skill and care that the generations of use and glowing patina are highlighted. Displays very very nicely.

Condition: Excellent and intact. Without repairs. One minor split to the collar (2nd image).
