Documented French Tramp Art Cabinet
About: This European version of the worldwide tramp art phenomenon retains extensive gothic patterning and detailing throughout. A chip carved masterpiece that hails from Avignon, France c. 1930s, the cabinet is constructed of solid wood (save for the back) with interior compartment and one shelf concealed by hinged door. The entire composition is reminiscent of gothic stonework or stained glass. Three sides of the cabinet are heavily decorated while the top is solid with loose chip carved detailing.

Condition: Impressively intact for the level of detailing and age. Losses to several areas as shown and warped chip carved arched element to the door as shown.
