About: This is a handmade solid brass log (or magazine) holder in the arts & crafts style and likely from the late period of the movement, c.1915. The use of brass along with scroll motifs a la William Morris likely indicates an English manufacture. The chunky hammered brass scroll work continues to form curled feet and are fastened from the inside with solid brass screws. The interior is textured likely to act as grip for holding logs in-place.
