Canvasback Drake Duck Decoy
About: This is a brightly painted drake Canvasback Duck decoy. He started his life as a working decoy but now, given his lovely paint job, is more likely to grace your house than pond.
The underside bears the creator’s pet-name for the duck: “Lord Bearing, Canvasback”. Perhaps he was a very successful decoy in order to earn such a title. Or, his main weighting mechanism might simply have been a ball bearing, attached to the underside.
Why We Love It: His coloration is vivid, with a graphic quality while his proportions are excellent and are matched by the semi-primitive carved details.
Condition: Excellent without cracks or repairs though with some chippy paint as shown. Glass eyes are intact. A very nice example.
