18th Century French Candlestick
About: This is a 18th Century French silvered bronze candlestick in the taste of Louis XV (1730-50) perhaps later in the era when tastes moved towards the neoclassical, as evidenced in the faceted mid-stem. The candlestick features elegant incised lines, knops, a decadent base and flared lip to catch wax.
Why We Love It: The silver has worn through giving way to bronze tones beneath for a really exceptional aged vibe. Very moody. And it’s OLD….1750s!!! This candlestick witnessed the French Revolution!
Condition: The candlestick may have been used as a table lamp for a time as there is a hole to the base as shown. The silver has worn in many places and the entire piece has a really nice patina.
