18th Century Bannister Chairs

$495.00

About: This pair of elusive “banister” chairs hail from Connecticut or New Hampshire circa late 18th century. They are so-called banister chairs as the back stiles resemble (or were likely) stair railing banisters split in two.

While they are not a matched pair, one features strong New England details and the other is a little more primitive in fit and finish. They've likely lived together for a very long time so we'll keep em that way.

Why We Love It: Highly evident turnings, knops and rush seats, oh my. Excellent time honored patina. VERY New England.

Condition: Very nice display condition with a rich patina. Rush seats were likely replaced several times over their lifespan but are in excellent presentable condition. Priced as a pair.

Dims:

Taller: 42" H x 19" W x 14" D 16" Seat Height

Shorter: 40" H x 17" W x 13" D x 16" Seat Height

Location: Sperryville, VA
